          Term Limits


  The reinstate-us Party believes it is better to remove the reasons for re-electing
a bad incumbent than to loose the right to re-elect good representation.

  The congressional seniority system was partly dismantled in the late 60’s and
early 70’s. The remaining power and privileges from seniority needs to be completely
removed. The committee system also needs to be completely overhauled.
Committee leaders could be selected by taking aptitude tests and those scoring the
highest in an area would be assigned there. Or random selection, a lottery.

  Also Committee leaders could only Chair a committee for a limited time, 4 or possibly 6 years.

  We need to find ways to make competency and voter satisfaction the overriding consideration
for re-electing a Congressman.

  In a free society, where people are elected democratically, voters should be able to choose
their representatives. As long as the voters are happy with the job their representatives 
are doing, they should have the right to choose them over and over again.



  Enact legislation creating Term limits for Staff Aids and Lobbyists.

 The reinstate-us Party does believe in term limits for congressional Staff, Aids and Lobbyists.

 The way it is now some of these people have been in Washington 

longer than the Congressman they work for.   

They also , may have as much power and influence, with no voter accountability.  

 

         They should be required to leave after a maximum of six years.

 

          They should not be allowed to ever return in that capacity.
